Tonight while checking my voice mails at Grandcentral I was greated with a message from Google saying it was possible for me to upgrade to Google Voice. The day I have been waiting for has finally come!!! I clicked the button and within a few minutes I was shown a screen which resembled Gmail. Here are some of the features I found within the first 3 minutes:
- When someone calls I am greeted with the name of the person if they are in my contact list
- Send/Receive SMS messages
- Voicemails transcribed
- Voicemails are searchable just like emails in Gmail
- Contacts use my Google Contacts which is the same contacts sync to my iPhone vie Google Sync
I can only hope they open up Google Voice to the general public without invites. I know I have people asking me for invites all the time!
